Chamgadar Ka Chamatkar
animation | Character design
Life during the numerous covid lockdowns brought with itself a unique set of day-to-day experiences, from the loneliness and isolation of having to stay apart from friends and family to experiencing solitude and developing new perspectives. Over the course of the lockdown we have experienced a multitude of feelings that are too complex and dynamic to express using just words. Thus, we did it in a song.
As part of a classroom project, 'Chamgadar ka Chamatkar' is the product of 25 individuals working collaboratively to contribute original music, lyrics and animations into an animated music video, chronicling their experiences of living under the ever-looming uncertainty and restrictions of the covid lockdowns.

Character Conceptualisation
Rough sketches of the character, exaggerating facial features.

I modelled my character on Tim Burton's art style, also taking inspiration from the 'Don't Starve' game, as I felt that that very closely resembled the kind of person that I am. Considering the time constraint I decided to challenge myself by using Blender, a software that I had experience with and photoshop to paint in the textures. The hardest part of this process was trying to get the face right, something which still fell short of what I'd wanted.
